Today we were taught by Shaniel, myself, Angela, and Sydney.

Shaniel's lesson was about joinery without using adhesives. My lesson was about how to create a paper puppet without showing the joints. Angela's lesson was about how to make a pop-up card with a box inside, and Sydney's was about how to crochet a flower.

We all had varying degrees of success, and received beneficial feedback.

The feedback I received was:

• Do the lesson either TOGETHER (do 1 step, wait) OR do a speedy demo first THEN everyone makes independently

• Don't pass out materials until after

• Make more stencils, those were clutch

• Good to have a premade/example to share

• Think about how this could be spread into a multi-day project or unit

• Show where to poke holes

• Visuals on a slide could be helpful if not using the camera

I realize I am a harsh critic to myself, and so I was focused more on how I was caught up by the quiet, and by not being able to project and have my notes out at the same time. It went fine.

Shaniel's lesson was from his time in Saturday Studios, recycled for this class. It didn't seem updated from then, either, so I wonder what he actually did? Also, there was no demonstration, just speaking to us about joinery and some history. He needs to work on pacing and instruction/the goal of the lesson.

Angela's lesson was fun, but I could see where students would run into issues or push back; luckily, we are adults and able to pivot, but most of us don't use centimeters, and some were ready to move on for a while.

I was worried about Sydney's lesson because I've had experiences teaching crochet that have gone awry. Their lesson went as expected; those with experience helped peers without experience, and Sydney jumped in to help and guide gracefully. The class showed great perseverance.

I have to finish my formal lesson plan, and all of my grades are due by noon tomorrow, so I will not have time to finish any art today.
